"Without fear and illness...

... I never could have accomplished all I have," wrote Edvard Munch. Possibly very true, however, not a great approach to tupper supper. Let us cancel this week and rejoin next week, all a little healthier and stronger in spirit.

Happy Hallowe'en!

Important reminder: Tupper is Thursday this week!

Don't be showing up at A and A's on Wednesday! It's Thursday at Sal's!

Giant spheres

I realize this is off topic, but I really liked it. Giant Spheres. What's not to love?

Michelle, dear, what are your NYC dates, or are you there already? Sorry, I'm having trouble keeping up with all things.

Schedules

In response to Jan's good question, I'll be out of town:

~ December 10-14 or so;
~ right around my next scheduled meal, probably including Christmas, until 1/30 or 1/31;
~ March 10-14 or so;

with a couple of unknowns in between.

Sweetness!

Huffing around the curve, in last place...

Jan, thank you for launching us into the Land of Blog! (Someday I'll share the address of one I created this year... but first it needs something I've heard referred to as "content.")

I'm on for Nov. 1, and promise not to go in a squashward direction, nor will anything be dependent on the unspeakable, which may, however, make an appearance on the side. Kathleen, what are your ickies? As for this omnivore, I'm just not much of a dessert person, but it's never been a problem. I love taste-size delectations. And the rest of you... ?

If anyone is willing to sign up to bring salad or other side dish, wine, or bread, it would be appreciated. There's lots of chopping space here in case of need, and my houselet would be delighted to be warmed by the newer iteration of Tups. Alix/Andy, you may want to bring the salad dressings to which we've all become accustomed, and butter-like substance if you so desire. I'll make a garlicky vinaigrette and will have other dressings available, "real bother," and olive oil on the premises, so no worries in any case.

If greater imagination fails, I plan to return to my vegetarian standby of yore: basmati, black beans, red onions, diced tomatoes, cilantro, garlic sauce... am I missing anything?

I also have a bottle of bubbly that was a gift from a London colleague last March. Don't know if Champagne has a short shelf life, but the time is ripe to crack this baby open and find out. And given the source, it should be the kind that makes Alix swoon, as opposed to, like, ill. Just warning ya.

It should be noted that my table at rest is maxed out at 6 people, and we are 7 if it's a full house with no YHA or additional guests. There's a leaf that I *think* is operational, but I need to confirm that. If not, stand by for further thoughts.

Meal planning

I remember that our main object is delicious, nutritious, mainly vegetarian fare, but I'd like to be reminded, when I'm planning a main course, what people's preference for eating or not eating are. I remember Michelle doesn't like squash. I remember that my eating idiosyncracies are probably more numerous than any, so I can keep them to myself while I'm cooking because I, naturally, won't impose stuff I don't like on myself. But what about the rest of you?

I'm here!

Ahoy all. Also my first blog ever - I'm already feeling overwhelmed :)

Excellent!

This is my first blog ever!

I think I'm going to love this thing!

Jan, thanks for getting the ball rolling here. I look forward to many fascinating meals in new and exotic locales (West Seattle? Bagley Ave.? The world is our oyster!).

First Post: Cooking Schedule thru End of 2007

Dear Tups,

Welcome to our new blog!

Here is the Main Dish Rotation schedule we agreed on last night.

We're rotating alphabetically by last name.

NOTE: For privacy reasons, I suggest never using any of the following information in this venue:

  • Your own or one another's last names
  • Street addresses
  • Telephone numbers
  • Directions to homes

I further move that anyone whose day falls on an impossible date for some reason is responsible for finding a replacement chief chef and organizer.

And finally, this is a great place to note when you're going to be out of town or bring a guest, so our chef of the week knows how many to cook for!

Oct 24 Alix
Nov 1 Sally
Nov 7 Kathleen
Nov 14 Jan
(week of Nov 21 is Thanksgiving, no Tupper but all are welcome to Thanksgiving dinner at Alix and Andy's!)
Nov 28 Andy
Dec 5 Michelle
Dec 12 Craig
Dec 19 Alix
